Colour Temperature: The One Variable That Bites
More commercial specs go wrong on colour temperature than anything else. Once the fittings are in and the plasterer has been through, correcting a mismatch is a full strip-and-replace job at your cost.

Hotel fit-out rule of thumb: 2700K or 3000K in all guest-facing areas, 4000K in back-of-house. Order one sample before committing to volume. Two days. Saves a week.
IP Ratings: Which Fitting Goes Where
Using the wrong IP rating in a wet or dusty location is a certification problem, not just a wear issue. Under BS 7671:2018 Regulation 701.512.3, bathroom Zone 1 requires IP45 minimum. Zone 2 requires IP44. No exceptions.
- IP20 — dry indoor only. Standard office panel territory.
- IP44 — splash-proof. Bathrooms outside Zone 1, kitchens, corridor entrances.
- IP65 — dust-tight, jet-resistant. Commercial kitchens, car parks, loading bays, covered canopies.
- IP66+ — full outdoor exposure. Luceco's floodlight and wall lantern range.
