Grohe Rainshower SmartActive 310 Cube Head Shower Set Brushed Cool Sunrise - 26479GN0
The GROHE Rainshower SmartActive 310 Cube is a 310mm square rain shower head supplied as a set with a horizontal 430mm shower arm, finished in GROHE's brushed cool sunrise (colour code GN0) - a warm, softly brushed gold tone rather than a polished chrome.
Two spray patterns are built in: GROHE PureRain, a soft, enveloping rainfall, and GROHE ActiveRain, a firmer spray with enough force to rinse shampoo out and give a head, neck and back massage. You can run either on its own or both together. GROHE DreamSpray balances the flow evenly across every nozzle, SpeedClean silicone nozzles let you wipe limescale off with a fingertip, and the Inner WaterGuide routes hot water down the centre of the arm so the outer surface stays cooler and the finish lasts longer.
Two important points before you order: this is a head shower and arm only, and it will not work on its own. This set needs a Rainshower Universal rough-in box - either 26483000 or the water-saving EcoJoy 26484000 - plus a shower valve to feed and switch the two sprays. Both are sold separately. Browse our Shower Valves and Fixed Shower Heads collections, or the wider Showering range.
Is this right for your bathroom?
This is a concealed-installation head shower with a large 310mm face. Three quick checks before you order.
1
Is your wall being opened up (or already chased out)? The arm feeds from a GROHE Rainshower Universal rough-in box buried in the wall. Installation depth is 75-105mm for both 26483000 and 26484000, so this is a new-build or full-refit product rather than a swap for a head on an exposed riser rail.
2
Do you have a valve that can drive two sprays? The rough-in box has two 1/2" inlets - one per spray - so the PureRain / ActiveRain selection happens at the valve, not at the head. GROHE pair this head with a Grohtherm SmartControl thermostat or SmartControl mixer. See our Shower Valves collection.
3
Can your system actually feed a 310mm head? At 3 bar it delivers 25 l/min on PureRain and 19 l/min on ActiveRain with the standard 26483000 rough-in, or a capped 9.5 l/min per water way with the EcoJoy 26484000. A big rain head only feels like a rain head if the supply can keep up.
Good fit if
You're building or fully refitting a shower and can bury a rough-in box in the wall (75-105mm depth)
You want a large 310mm square head on a 430mm wall arm
You're specifying a GROHE SmartControl or Grohtherm valve that can switch or combine two sprays
You want a brushed gold finish - GROHE brushed cool sunrise (GN0) - rather than chrome
You have a mains-pressure or pumped supply that can deliver a useful flow rate
Check first if
You're on a gravity-fed (loft tank) system. Flow figures for this head are quoted at 3 bar. GROHE do not state a minimum flow pressure for 26479GN0, but an unpumped gravity system sits far below 3 bar, so expect a much softer spray. A twin shower pump such as the Salamander Ora 2.0 is the usual fix - see the FAQ below for what it can and can't do
You expected a valve, hose or handset in the box. The set contains the head shower plus the 430mm arm. The rough-in box (26483000 or 26484000) and the valve are separate purchases
You wanted chrome. GN0 is brushed cool sunrise. The same 26479 head shower set is catalogued by GROHE in other finishes, including 26479000 chrome
You live in a hard-water area. SpeedClean nozzles wipe clean by hand, and GROHE guarantee their function for five years - but they do need wiping regularly. See the limescale FAQ below
You're replacing a head on an exposed riser rail. This is a wall-arm, concealed-feed product - a rail handset from our shower head range is not interchangeable with it

Two sprays: PureRain and ActiveRain
GROHE PureRain falls soft and wide; ActiveRain hits harder for rinsing hair and massaging shoulders. Run either alone or both at once, selected at the valve.
DreamSpray and SpeedClean nozzles
DreamSpray balances the flow evenly across the 310mm face. The silicone SpeedClean nozzles let you rub limescale off with a fingertip, and GROHE guarantee their function for five years.
Inner WaterGuide and LongLife finish
Hot water is routed down an insulated inner channel rather than against the outer skin, keeping the arm cooler to touch and protecting the brushed cool sunrise LongLife surface.
Not sure what you still need to order? A working installation is this head shower set, plus a GROHE Rainshower Universal rough-in box (26483000, or 26484000 if you want the EcoJoy 9.5 l/min limiter), plus a shower valve with two outlets. Message us on this page with your valve model and we'll confirm the combination before you buy.
What exactly is "brushed cool sunrise", and is it the same as brushed brass or gold?
Brushed cool sunrise is GROHE's own finish name for colour code GN0 - a brushed, non-reflective warm gold tone. It is not chrome, not brushed nickel and not matt black. GROHE catalogue the same 26479 head shower set in a range of other finishes, including chrome (26479000), so if you need to match existing fittings, check the colour code on those first. Because it's a brushed surface, follow GROHE's care instructions (linked above) and avoid abrasive cleaners.
What's actually in the box - do I get a valve, hose or handset?
No. The box contains the Rainshower SmartActive 310 Cube head shower and the horizontal 430mm shower arm. There is no hose, no handset, no wall bracket and no valve. GROHE also state that this product requires a Rainshower Universal rough-in box - 26483000, or 26484000 with the water-saving EcoJoy limiter - to be ordered separately, and you'll need a shower valve to feed and switch the two sprays. Have a look at our Shower Valves collection, or the full Showering range.
Will it work on my gravity-fed system, and do I need a shower pump?
GROHE do not publish a minimum flow pressure for 26479GN0 - what they do publish is the flow rate measured at 3 bar: 25 l/min on one spray and 19 l/min on the other with the 26483000 rough-in, or a capped 9.5 l/min per water way with the EcoJoy 26484000. An unpumped gravity-fed system (loft cold tank plus hot cylinder) delivers a small fraction of 3 bar, so a 310mm head will feel soft rather than powerful. A twin shower pump like the Salamander Ora 2.0 is the usual answer: it boosts both the hot and cold feed and is rated at 1.2 bar at 15 l/min, 1.8 bar at 8 l/min and 2.0 bar at closed head. Two honest caveats. First, that's still below the 3 bar the flow figures are quoted at, so treat a pump as a big improvement rather than a guarantee of the headline flow rate - the EcoJoy 26484000 rough-in, which caps flow at 9.5 l/min per way, is the easier target. Second, the Ora 2.0 is designed to boost a single thermostatic shower on a positive-head gravity system - it isn't intended to run several outlets at once, and it won't work with a combi boiler. Message us with your system type before ordering either item and we'll sanity-check it.
Which rough-in box should I choose - 26483000 or 26484000?
Both are GROHE Rainshower Universal rough-in boxes with two 1/2" inlets, a DR brass connection unit and an installation depth of 75-105mm. The difference is flow. 26484000 adds GROHE's AquaCalibrator and EcoJoy limiter and caps the flow at 9.5 l/min per water way at 3 bar, which saves water and is far more realistic on a lower-pressure supply. 26483000 leaves the flow unrestricted, which is where GROHE's higher 25 l/min and 19 l/min figures come from. Neither box is included with this head shower set.
How do I stop limescale blocking the nozzles in a hard-water area?
The nozzles are GROHE SpeedClean silicone jets - limescale on the face lifts off by simply rubbing over it with your fingers, and GROHE guarantee that function for five years, on the condition that you clean them regularly. That's the honest answer for the head itself: routine wiping, plus GROHE's care instructions rather than descaler on a brushed finish. If you'd rather treat the water going into the house, we stock Salamander's in-line catalytic water conditioners, which fit on the incoming supply to reduce limescale build-up across the whole property: the CWCOND02 (1/2" BSP-T, 3-25 l/min) and the CWCOND03 (3/4" BSP-T, 24-54 l/min). Note these are sized on your whole-house incoming flow rate, not on one shower's flow, and they're a water-treatment measure rather than a filter - they don't remove the need to wipe the nozzles.
Does "310" mean the head is 310mm, and what does "Cube" mean?
Yes - 310 is the head size in millimetres, and Cube is GROHE's designation for the square-faced version of the Rainshower SmartActive 310 (the non-Cube 26475 is the round one). The set pairs that 310mm square head with a horizontal 430mm wall arm. Do check the dimensional drawing linked in Downloads before you set out the rough-in box, so the head lands where you want it in the enclosure.
