Description

Salamander ORA 2.0 Shower Pump

The Salamander ORA 2.0 is a twin-ended, 2.0 bar shower pump that boosts both the hot and cold supply to give you a strong, consistent shower in a gravity-fed home.

Compact, quiet and easy to install, it's a cost-effective way to turn a weak, low-pressure trickle into a powerful, enjoyable shower — without replacing your whole system. Made in Britain by Salamander Pumps, WRAS approved and backed by a manufacturer warranty, the ORA 2.0 is designed specifically for gravity-fed, positive-head systems — the most common setup in UK homes.

Is the ORA 2.0 right for your shower?

This pump is built for gravity-fed, positive-head systems — the most common UK setup, but not the only one. Two quick checks tell you if it's the right fit.

1

Do you have a gravity-fed system?

You almost certainly do if you have:

  • A cold water storage tank in your loft, plus a hot water cylinder (usually in an airing cupboard).
  • Water pressure that depends on the height of that tank — not the mains.
2

Is it positive or negative head?

This is the single most important check. A positive-head system already produces 2 litres/min or more from gravity alone, before any pump. Below that, it's negative head — and the ORA 2.0 won't activate, so you'd need a universal (negative-head) pump instead.

The 30-second jug test

Time how long it takes to fill a 1-litre jug from your shower or bathroom tap — with no pump running.

UNDER 30sPositive head — the ORA 2.0 is a great fit.

OVER 30sNegative head — choose a universal pump instead.

No jug? Rule of thumb: if there's more than 600mm of height between the bottom of your loft tank and the highest point the water needs to reach, you're very likely positive head.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a positive or negative head pump?
It depends on your home's plumbing. The ORA 2.0 is a positive-head pump, so it needs some natural water flow to already exist before it kicks in — at least 2 litres per minute. Most homes with a loft-mounted cold water tank and a hot water cylinder qualify. If you're not sure, time how long it takes to fill a 1-litre jug from your shower with no pump: under 30 seconds means positive head. Still unsure? Message our advisor before ordering, or choose a universal (negative-head) pump instead.
Will this pump work with my combi boiler?
No. The ORA 2.0 only works with gravity-fed systems — a loft cold water tank feeding a separate hot water cylinder. Combi boilers heat water on demand and don't use a tank, so this pump (or any gravity-fed pump) isn't compatible. If you have a combi boiler and low pressure, you'd need a mains booster pump instead, which is a different product.
How many showers or outlets can the ORA 2.0 boost?
The ORA 2.0 is designed to boost a single thermostatic shower — both the hot and cold supply to that one shower. It isn't intended to run multiple outlets at once (e.g. a shower and a bath tap simultaneously). To boost your whole bathroom or several outlets, you'd want a bathroom or whole-house pump instead.
Can I install the ORA 2.0 myself, or do I need a plumber?
Because it involves both plumbing and a 230V electrical connection, we recommend installation by a qualified plumber or electrician. The pump comes pre-wired with a 1.5m cable and includes the anti-vibration couplers (2 angled, 2 straight), so a competent installer can fit it quickly. Always follow the supplied installation guide — incorrect fitting can invalidate the warranty.
Is the ORA 2.0 noisy?
No. It sits on anti-vibration feet and uses anti-vibration flexible hoses, which keep running noise and vibration low — noticeably quieter than older-style pumps. For the quietest result, mount it on a solid, level surface as shown in the installation guide.
What warranty does it come with?
The ORA 2.0 comes with a 1-year manufacturer warranty from Salamander Pumps. To keep the warranty valid, the pump must be installed in line with the official installation guide (including the inlet filters and correct couplers).
Is the ORA 2.0 suitable for UK water regulations?
Yes. It's WRAS approved (approval no. 2212703) for use with UK water regulations, and Salamander Pumps are made in Britain to ISO 9001 & 14001 standards.
