The RAK Ceramics Moon is a rimless wall hung WC pan in white vitreous china, supplied with RAK's hidden fixations so there are no visible bolt caps on the finished pan. Because it's a wall-hung pan there's no visible cistern and nothing standing on the floor, which makes the floor underneath far quicker to mop - a genuine advantage in a busy family bathroom, an en-suite or a hotel washroom.
The rimless bowl removes the traditional hidden rim where limescale and bacteria normally collect, so the bowl can be wiped right round in one pass. RAK Ceramics manufacture the Moon pan in vitreous china to BS 3402: 1969 and back the ceramic with a 25-year guarantee. The pan has a P-trap (horizontal) outlet, so it connects straight back into the wall.
This listing is the WC pan only. The box contains the rimless wall hung pan and RAK's hidden fixation kit. It does not include a toilet seat, a support frame, a concealed cistern or a flush plate - all four are bought separately. Is this right for your bathroom?
A wall-hung pan hangs off a support frame inside the wall, not off the plasterboard. Three checks before you order.

Do you have a support frame (or a solid wall built for a wall-hung pan)? A wall-hung WC pan must be carried by a purpose-made support frame or wall-fixing set - it cannot be fixed to plasterboard alone. If you're starting from scratch you'll need a frame and a concealed cistern as well as this pan. See our Installation Frames collection.

Check the fixing centres and projection against your frame before you cut the wall. The pan measures 550 x 350 x 360mm and comes with its hidden fixation kit, but RAK do not publish a compatible frame brand or bolt centres. If you're replacing an existing wall-hung pan, or you already have a frame in the wall, measure your existing fixing centres and compare them with the pan and fixing kit before you commit. If in doubt, email us the frame make and model first.

Is your soil connection horizontal? This is a P-trap pan with a horizontal outlet, designed to connect straight back into the wall behind it. It is not a vertical/S-trap floor outlet pan.

Is a toilet seat included?
No. No seat is included - the matching RAK Moon soft-close quick-release seat is a separate product. The seat is guaranteed separately too - 2 years on the seat against 25 years on the ceramic - because it's bought as a separate item. What support frame or concealed cistern do I need?
A wall-hung pan has to be carried by a support frame (or a purpose-built wall-hung fixing set) with a concealed cistern behind it. It's a P-trap horizontal-outlet pan supplied with hidden fixations, but RAK do not publish a compatible frame brand or bolt centres - so we won't claim a specific frame fits. Wall-hung frames are generally supplied with adjustable pan-fixing bolts, but you should always compare your frame's fixing centres and pan-support dimensions with the pan and the supplied fixing kit before cutting the wall. Which flush plate should I order with it?
The flush plate is matched to your concealed cistern, not to the pan - so choose the cistern first, then the plate that's designed for it. Flush plates are not interchangeable between cistern brands. If you're specifying for a high-traffic public washroom and your concealed cistern happens to be an Ideal Standard ProSys system, the anti-vandal Armitage Shanks Septa Pro M1 is worth a look - but only with a ProSys cistern; it is not compatible with Geberit or Grohe cisterns.
What does "rimless" actually mean, and why does it matter?
A conventional pan has a hollow rim around the top of the bowl that the flush water runs through. That rim is where limescale, dirt and bacteria collect, and it's the part of the bowl a brush can't properly reach. A rimless pan does away with it, so the flush water is directed around the open bowl instead and the whole inner surface can be wiped in one pass. In practice it means less scrubbing and fewer hidden spots - which is why rimless pans have become the default choice for hotels and rental properties as well as family bathrooms.
