Bathroom & Sanitaryware Authority Hub

Use this hub to specify compliant, compatible bathroom products faster. It connects flush plate and cistern compatibility guidance, shower selection by water system, brand ranges from Geberit, Grohe, Aqualisa and Ideal Standard, and the bathroom electrical rules (BS 7671 zones) that hotel and HMO refurbs must meet.

Built around the brand-coherent specification workflow used in UK hotel, HMO and rental bathroom refurbishments.

Decision Shortcuts

Which flush plate fits my concealed cistern?

The plate must match the cistern or frame series — Geberit Sigma, Omega, Delta, Alpha and Kappa plates each fit only their own cistern series; Grohe plates pair with Rapid SL frames.

Read the flush plate guide

Mixer, electric or pumped shower?

Start from the water system: combi or unvented mains pressure suits mixers; gravity-fed systems may need a pump; electric showers work on cold mains regardless.

Category FAQ

Can I mix flush plate and cistern brands?

No. Flush plates are mechanically matched to their own brand and series of cistern — a Geberit Sigma plate will not fit a Grohe Rapid SL frame. Confirm the installed cistern series first.

What IP rating do bathroom electrical fittings need?

Under BS 7671, Zone 1 requires IPX4 minimum (IP65 commonly specified), Zone 2 IPX4 — shaver sockets to BS EN 61558-2-5 are the standard socket option near basins. See the bathroom and wet room electrical guide.
